HYDERABAD: Three engineers cited as absconders

HYDERABAD, Sept 7: The chief engineers of Jamshoro Thermal power plant and Kotri Barrage and the executive engineer of the Water and Sanitation Agency were shown as absconders in the water contamination case here on Tuesday.

Sessions Judge Zaheeruddin S. Leghari transferred the case from the sixth additional district judge to the first additional district judge. The case record has been called from the sixth ADJ.

The absconders were identified as Abul Adil, chief engineer of the powerhouse, Agha Ali Hassan, chief engineer of the barrage, and Bashir Awan, executive engineer of Wasa of the Hyderabad Development Authority.

A case against them was lodged at the Market police station on June 4 after people of Hyderabad witnessed an unprecedented water crisis between May and July causing death of 42 persons.
