KARACHI: Two jobless men commit suicide - Boy run over by tanker

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Sept 5: Two men committed suicide in separate incidents on Saturday after remaining jobless for the past several months. A 40-year-old man hanged himself using a rope against a hook from the ceiling fan at his home in Quaidabad police limits.

Police said that Ghulam Qadir became depressed after loosing his job at a security company. The father of three tried many times to get a job but to no avail. He, in frustration, started taking drugs that led to quarrels with his wife. His wife then went to her parent's with her children, leaving him alone at home.

In utter depression, Ghulam Qadir hanged himself sometime during the night. As his brother, Fazal, incidentally entered the house, he saw his brother hanging and informed the police, who sent his body for autopsy to the JPMC.

In another incident, a youth, identified as Yasir Siraj, 20, hanged himself at his home in Bilal Colony, Korangi. He was alone. Police said that Bilal, a labourer, was jobless for the past some months and felt depressed. He didn't want to be a burden on his family. Police dispatched the corpse to the JPMC for autopsy and handed it back to the family for burial.

KILLED: A man was clubbed to death allegedly by his cousins in Gulshan-i-Ghazi within Mochko police limits. Police said Mohammad Azam Khan, 35, resident of Saeedabad, went to see his cousins in Gulshan-i-Ghazi.

There, Azam developed differences over some matter that provoked his cousins, who beat him with clubs. Azam suffered serious head injuries and was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police picked up Zafar Ahmed, cousin of the deceased, for interrogation. The police could also pick up Zafar's other brothers - who were absconding - for interrogation.

TORSO FOUND: The torso of a man was found on the Lyari river bed off Bilal Colony in Quaidabad police limits on Sunday. Police said the torso was in the state of decomposition and could not be identified.

It was sent to a hospital for autopsy and later buried as it could not be stored in the morgue. Police, however, started a search for its remaining parts in the areas from where the torso was discovered.

BODY FOUND: The bullet-riddled body of an unidentified youth was found on the premises of a school in PECHS on Saturday. Police said the body was lying in the Model School in the PECHS, which was discovered early in the morning. Bullets were found in the head of the deceased, which suggested that the youth was kidnapped and taken to the premises where he was shot dead.

The body was sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsy. Its identity could not be established yet. Later, the body was kept at Edhi morgue for identification.

ACCIDENT: A boy was run over by a water tanker on the National Highway on Saturday. Shah Latif Town police said a speeding water tanker hit Naseeb Gul, 16, on his bicycle. Naseeb, resident of Mansehra Colony, suffered serious injuries and died on the spot. Police arrested the driver Ajab Gul and impounded the water tanker.
