PESHAWAR, Sept 3: Central president of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) Qazi Hussain Ahmad has denied the existence of "a forward bloc or accountability group" in the NWFP.
"There is no forward bloc or accountability group in the MMA at all," he said while speaking to journalists at the Mahabat Khan mosque here on Friday.
Asked about recriminations between Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani and Acting Speaker Ikramullah Shahid, Qazi Hussain said he would discuss the matter with Mr Shahid. He alleged that the Centre was hatching conspiracies against the MMA government in the NWFP, saying that no power could topple the provincial government.
The federal government, he said, was constantly interfering in the affairs of the province. Condemning raids on seminaries across the country, he said action against madressahs could lead the country to anarchy.
He asked the federal government to honour the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal mandate and approve the Hasba Bill. Asked about the appointment of Aftab Ahmad Sherpao as interior minister in the federal cabinet, Qazi Hussain said: "The change of face does not matter because the policy will remain same." The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader denied that the Jamaat-i-Islami had any links with terrorist organizations, including Al Qaeda.
