Aziz asked to recover 'the looted billions'

By Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Aug 29: Former PML-Q president Mian Azhar says Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz should take steps to recover the looted billions that he himself had been talking about as finance minister.

In a press statement here on Sunday, he said relief for the common man and recovery of the looted national wealth provided the best course for the new premier to endear himself to his fellow countrymen.

Mian Azhar said a mere change of faces at the top level would not help improve the situation. Instead, he said, the real solution lay in the restoration of what he called people's rule.

He regretted that even the opposition did not represent people's opinion as it had focused its eyes on Islamabad instead of concentrating on problems of the common man.

He predicted that those out of power would soon be out of the country. He said the new prime minister would stand exposed if he inducted 'corrupt elements' into his cabinet.
