US envoy meets Baloch leaders

KARACHI, Aug 26: US Ambassador Ms Nancy Powell met Chairman Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (Ponam) Sardar Ataullah Khan Mengal and veteran politician Sardar Sherbaz Khan Mazari and exchanged views with them on the overall situation in Balochistan.

During the meeting over dinner at the US Consulate in Karachi on Wednesday night, Sardar Ataullah Mengal, a former chief minister of Balochistan, presented Ponam's point of view on the issues in Balochistan.

It is learnt that the situation in Gwadar and construction of big housing projects in the coastal town, besides plans for setting up army cantonments in Sui, Kohlu and Gwadar came up for discussion.

The US Consul General in Karachi and an official from the US embassy in Islamabad were present. -PPI
