ISLAMABAD, Aug 26: Heavy contingent of Capital police, accompanied by Frontier Constabulary, raided Afghan Colony kutchi abadi in H-11 sector and rounded up more than 200 people for their alleged involvement in criminal activities.
The police have registered a case against them on the charges of PP 55/109 (wandering), a source said. Witnesses said the police searched houses of the colony situated a few yards from the Police Lines Headquarters, Islamabad.
A police spokesman said more than 200 people were arrested from Afghan Colony, H-11 sector, and recovered stolen vehicles. He said on Thursday evening, the police surrounded the Afghan Colony and arrested more than 200 people allegedly involved in robbery, theft and narcotics business.
The acting senior superintendent of police Islamabad, Sultan Azam Taimoori, had an information that some criminals were hiding in the Afghan Colony. On a tip off, the SSP directed additional SP Mehboob Aslam to take action against them. An investigation against them is under progress. If the persons are found innocent, they will be released.
