PESHAWAR: Peshawar varsity to get Rs313m HEC grant

PESHAWAR, Aug 24: The University of Peshawar (UOP) will receive a grant of Rs313 million from the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad, for the maintenance and research work from this year.
A press release issued here on Tuesday said that the senate of the UOP had approved Rs695.848 million budget for the year 2004-05. At a meeting of the UOP senate held at the Senate Hall, presided over by Vice-Chancellor of the university Mumtaz Gull, the treasurer of the UOP, Dr Sanaullah, presented the budget of the university for the year 2004 -05.
Dr Sanaullah said the university would receive Rs310 million grant-in-aid for maintenance and Rs3m for research work from the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad. The university would generate Rs278.947 million through its own resources from which Rs3million would be allocated for research work, he said.
Dr Sanaullah further said the estimated expenditure is Rs695.848 million which included Rs476.927 for salaries of the employees and Rs218.921 million for utilities and other expenditures.
The meeting also approved five-year programme for the Department of Pharmacy and new draft of statutes for grades 21 and 22. The senate members nominated Prof Dr Fazl-ur-Rehman Sehti as member Finance and Planning Committee. Annual report for 2003-2004 was also presented at the meeting.
