THATTA, Aug 23: Attacks on the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala would isolate the so-called superpower, America, in the comity of nations, said speakers at a protest gathering outside the press club here on Monday.

Syed Murad Ali Shah, Nadir Shah, Amir Ali Shah Naqvi and others said that those who had desecrated the shrine of Hazrat Ali (RA) in Najaf and other holy sites in Karbala and Kufa would face the consequences of their deeds in the near future.

By laying siege to the holy shrine and killing innocent people, besides making their lives miserable, the Americans were doing no service to the people of Iraq, they added.

Despite being equipped with highly sophisticated weapons and confronting a small group of militants, the tyrants had shown their cowardice and hurt the sentiments of the Muslim world, the speakers said.

The speakers called on the Pakistan government to take a clear and bold stance on the issue and use its influence to end the desecration of places holy to Muslims. Earlier, holding banners, placards and raising slogans, the participants of the gathering marched through main thoroughfares of Thatta and staged a sit-in on the National Highway passing through the city.
