Fight against dictatorship to go on: PPP

By Our Reporter

RAWALPINDI, Aug 19: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) on Thursday said it took part in the by-polls as part of its struggle against dictatorship that would continue till revival of a genuine democracy in the country.

Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Qasim Zia said this while speaking to the party activists during his visit to the PPP district information bureau here.

Mr Zia said the Attock and Tharparkar by-polls were a black spot on democratic norms and ethics, because, he alleged, the government had resorted to massive rigging and abuse of state machinery to ensure victory of Shaukat Aziz.

He said the government will have to pay the price of the murder of three PPP activists in Attock. He said the government had snatched political and democratic rights from its own citizens by rigging the by-polls.

Mr Zia said the PPP would never bow to any dictator and would continue its struggle for the revival of a genuine democracy in the country and supremacy of institutions.
