Jhal Magsi firing kills two

DERA MURAD JAMALI, Aug 12: Two unknown armed men were killed in an exchange of fire with Levies at a deserted place near Gandawa in Jhal Magsi district on Thursday, Levies sources in Gandawa said.

District Administrative Officer of Jhal Magsi Kumail Ali was on his routine patrolling of the area along with the Levies personnel in his official vehicle on Thursday afternoon, when two unknown armed motorcyclists intercepted them and started firing indiscriminately at their vehicle.

The Levies returned fire which resulted in the death of both the assailants. The DAO and levies officials, however, remained unhurt. A Kalashnikov assault rifle along with a large number of bullets and shells from a rocket launcher were recovered from their possession from the spot.

The identity of the assailants could not be ascertained, the sources said, and added that they were criminals who were wandering in the area with the aim of committing robbery when they came across the Levies party. A case has been registered. -APP
