TORONTO, Aug 10: Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt is vowing never to return to Canada, after being engulfed in a storm of controversy over media reports claiming he has past links to terrorism.

The star has been filming his latest movie "Dus" in the western Canadian city of Calgary. But he has been dogged by reports recalling an 18 month jail term he served on suspicion of involvement in bomb blasts which killed nearly 300 people in Mumbai 10 years ago.

Members of the city's Indian community gathered in support of Dutt on Saturday night - but he told them he had had enough. "I never will come back to Canada ever in my life," Mr Dutt said, in remarks carried in a report by CBC television.

Mr Dutt, who has not been convicted of any crime, was released on bail in a case which has more than 170 suspects. Reports in western Canadian media suggested that Mr Dutt applied for special permission from Canada's immigration minister to film in Calgary. -AFP
