TV rights to make BCCI richer

KOLKATA, Aug 9: With India already established as the biggest market for cricket, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expects a jump of around 400% in income from tele casting rights for international matches to be played over next three years.

"Yes, we expect substantial jump over existing cricket tele casting rights," president of BCCI, Jagmohan Dalmiya said here. Dalmiya, said the market for cricket telecast has rapidly expanded in recent times and it would be reflected in latest round of bidding over telecast rights.

BCCI, who had earlier invited bids from broadcasters for live tele casting rights and radio broadcasting rights for international cricket matches to be played in India from September 2004 to August 2007.

The existing cricket telecast rights deal signed with Prasar Bharati ends next month. -Agencies
