KARACHI, Aug 4: A young man was shot dead by unidentified persons while resisting a dacoity attempt in Shah Faisal Colony late Tuesday night.

Police said Shah Rehman, 30, was returning to his home in Shah Faisal Colony with his wife from his in-laws when unidentified persons intercepted and deprived them of valuables and jewellery.

As Rehman showed resistance, they shot him and fled away. The victim was taken to JPMC where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said that Rehman had a jewellery shop at Tariq Road. Some jewellery shops at Tariq Road also remained closed on Wednesday as a mark of protest.

DROWNING: A nine-year-old boy drowned in the sea at Sandspit beach on Wednesday. Police said Muhammad Fasih, had gone to the beach on a picnic with his family from North Karachi when he was swept away by strong currents. Rescue workers could not recover his body despite several attempts.
