35 trucks donated to Kabul


TORKHAM, Aug 3: Pakistan on Tuesday donated 35 trucks to Afghanistan as a gesture of goodwill and peace between the two countries. The handing over ceremony was performed at Pak-Afghan border near Torkham.

The Deputy Chief (Protocol), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, presented keys of the donated trucks to the Second Secretary of the Afghan Consulate in Peshawar, Haji Mehraj.

Earlier, representatives of both the countries signed documents here. The government of Pakistan had announced to donate 200 trucks to Afghanistan. So far, 140 trucks had been handed over in three batches, informed Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah told journalists.

Pakistan, he said, would also donate 100 buses to Afghanistan in the near future. The Afghan diplomat thanked the government of Pakistan and expressed the hope that economic cooperation between the two countries would continue.

Malik Mehraj lauded Pakistan for its contribution towards Afghanistan's rehabilitation. -APP
