PESHAWAR: Pesco move to exempt mosques from TV fee

By Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, July 29: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company has constituted special teams to prepare lists of meters installed in mosques to exempt them from the TV licence fee, says a press release issued on Thursday.

A Pesco spokesman said the company had constituted seven teams that were conducting the survey to prepare the lists. The teams were set up after complaints were lodged with the company that the TV licence fee had been included in the monthly bills of many mosques.

He said that special code numbers had been issued to the meters installed at all places of worship. However, he pointed out, there were a few mosques that had not been issued the code number because their meters were registered in the names of individuals.

The spokesman said that special teams would prepare lists of meters installed at the mosques to ensure that they were not charged the TV licence fee in future. The power meters of hujras and private places housing the mosques would also be enlisted by the teams.
