PESHAWAR: Spurious medicines seized in raid on bogus factory

PESHAWAR, July 28: The crime circle of the Federal Investigation Agency seized a large quantity of fake medicines during a raid on a bogus factory in small industries area on the Kohat Road here on Wednesday.
The FIA, in another raid arrested three people on the charges of selling counterfeit antibiotic injections and sent a team to Charsadda to net the ringleader of the gang, said a senior official.
Speaking at a press conference at the FIA police station here, Assistant Director Ikhtiyar Gul said that the FIA team along with Federal Drug Inspector Noor Mohammad Shah and Provincial Drug Inspector Sabir Ali raided the house of Inamullah, son of Haji Gulab, where he had established the fake pharmaceutical factory.
The accused escaped just before the raid, he said. However, the FIA team took into possession a large quantity of fake drugs from the premises. The drugs included syrups with trade names of Nokuff-H, Medicof, Benmino, Mega-V, Ifravit Plus and Sharbat-i-Folad; capsules Vi.Vi.Ton, Vivitone and Moximed and bogus soap Oily Silk bar, Mr Gul maintained.
The official said that Inamullah was already wanted in two cases registered with the Drug Court. The same team also arrested Iftikhar, son of Aslam, a resident of Hashtnagri, on the charges of selling fake antibiotic injections in the market.
A large number of fake Axon injections was recovered from his bag, which he was carrying along with him, Mr Gul said and added that on the information of Iftikhar, the FIA also arrested Lehaz Gul, son of Ghaniur Rehman, a resident of Daudzai.
During the interrogation, the accused exposed the name of their accomplice Nabi Ullah, son of Saeed Ullah, who was arrested on the same day from his house in Wahid Ghari. However, Mr Gul added, the leader of the drug sellers gang was living in Charsadda and the team has been sent to the town to arrest him also.
