KARACHI, July 22: A newspaper hawker died in a road accident on main Korangi Road on Thursday. Hafiz Mohammad Ali, 40, was going on his motorcycle (KBA-3477) when a speeding bus (JA 1278) hit him.

The victim, a resident of Landhi, died on the spot and his body was shifted to JPMC for postmortem. Police claimed to have arrested the errant driver.

KILLED: A decomposed body of a middle-aged man was recovered in Gadap on Thursday. Police said that the body was at least 10 to 12 days old, and the police have shifted the body to the JPMC for autopsy.

Hospital sources said that victim's throat was slit by unknown persons.

SEIZURE: The customs drug enforcement cell at airport recovered 13 kgs of heroin by intercepting 14 cases of smuggling during the current month.

A spokesman for the Customs, said on Thursday that 13 persons were arrested in 14 cases. They included four Pakistanis, five Nigerians, two South Africans and two Tanzanians.

The accused were going to Colombo and confessed to have made three trips earlier, the spokesman said.

The Customs spokesman further said that they seized more than 100,000 CD's, VCDs and DVD's - all having pirated versions of English and Urdu films.
