PESHAWAR, July 19: Nazim of Town-III, Yasin Khan Khalil, on Monday unveiled a Rs316.671 million budget for the fiscal 2004-05. The budget showed an expenditure of Rs312.707 million, leaving a surplus amount of Rs3.963 million.
According to the budget document, Rs161.881 million would be received from the town municipal administration, Town-III, and other areas. Rs21.992 from university town committee and Rs132.797 million would be earned from micro-municipal services.
According to the break-up in the expenditures category, Rs87.456 million would be spent on establishment charges, Rs13.977 million on contingencies, Rs20.755 million on charge expenditure, Rs1.44 million on new expenditures, while Rs1.5 million have been allocated for women welfare programme, Rs44.873 million for developmental works and Rs142.705 million on developmental expenditures.
The budget session, which was held at a local hotel here, was presided over by town Naib Nazim Saadat Khan. District Nazim Azam Afridi and Naib Nazim Iqbal Khalil were also present on the occasion.
Mr Khalil said that the town administration had earned Rs300 million during the outgoing fiscal year. The town administration had allocated Rs2.7 million for women development, minorities and farmer councillors, he said, and added that another fund amounting to Rs1.5 million had been allocated for establishing vocational and computer centres for girls at the union council level.
The nazim said that the town administration had also allocated Rs15.7 million purely for developmental works. An amount of Rs14.1 million was specified for ongoing projects, he said.
Mr Khalil said that the town administration had given great importance to water supply schemes by allocating Rs10 million for establishing and repairing tubewells. He further said that a fund of Rs5 million was allocated for sodium and streetlights.
Mr Khalil said that the development of Hayatabad was also included in the town budget which had allocated Rs25.135 for developing the township. The town council will start discussion on the budget on Thursday.
