LAHORE, July 12: Lahore and several other cities in the Punjab, the NWFP and the Northern Areas received rain on Monday because of a westerly wave. Attock and Marala received the heaviest rain, which was 158mm and 109mm, respectively.
Lahore received light rain in the morning. It remained cloudy to partly cloudy afterwards, making weather pleasant. The maximum temperature was 34.2 degrees C and the minimum 25.5 degrees C with 56 per cent humidity in the morning and 56 per cent in the evening.
According to the Flood Forecasting Division, there was fairly widespread rain of light to moderate intensity over the upper catchments of the rivers Jhelum, Chenab and Ravi along with Kohat, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Sargodha, Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala divisions.
Kotli received 69mm of rain, Muzaffarabad 44mm, Shakargarh 29mm, Sialkot 24mm, Jhelum and Parachinar 20mm each, Besham 18mm, Malamjabba 15mm, Mandi Bahauddin and Murree 11mm each, Saidu Sharif 10mm, Islamabad 10mm, Lahore 9mm and Kakul 6mm.
It has predicted scattered rain of light to moderate intensity with heavy falls at one or two places over the upper catchments of all the main rivers, central NWFP, northern and northeastern Punjab during the next 24 hours.
