PESHAWAR: Effective Khasadar force sought

PESHAWAR, June 29: Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah directed political agents to initiate efforts to make Khasadars an effective force for the maintenance of law and order in tribal areas.

Presiding over a meeting of political agents here on Monday, the governor said that as a first step, the Khasadars should be brought under a proper organization to make it a disciplined force. He constituted a four-member committee to prepare necessary recommendations in this regard.

The meeting was attended by secretary to the governor Sahibzada Saeed Ahmad besides the political agents of the Khyber, Mohmand, Bajaur, Orakzai Kurram and North Waziristan agencies, which took up a number of issues pertaining to Fata, including internal security and law and order situation.

The governor directed them (political agents) to focus their attention on maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in their respective jurisdictions and strictly enforce the ban on politicking in Fata.

Later, he said at a meeting with the Agency Surgeons that corruption and irregularities would not be tolerated in the hospitals in the Federally-Administered Tribal Areas, warning that officials found involved in malpractice would be taken to task.

The governor directed the health officials posted in Fata to ensure availability of best medical facilities to the people. The meeting discussed the state of healthcare facilities in Fata besides reviewing various projects and services in this respect.

FATA SENATORS: A delegation of Senators from the Federally-Administered Tribal Areas called on the Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah here on Monday.

The delegation included Malik Mohammad Ajmal, Mian Sajjad Hussain, Engineer Rashid Ahmad and Hamidullah Jan Afridi, whereas Secretary to the Governor Sahibzada Saeed Ahmad was also present on this occasion.

The Senators apprised the governor of the development requirements of their respective areas and discussed with him matters pertaining to the Federally-Administered Tribal Areas.
