TOBA TEK SINGH, June 27: Armed robbers in police uniform looted passengers of a bus on the Toba-Faisalabad Road in Gojra area on Sunday.

The bus (5895-JA) was going to Multan from Faisalabad. Near Chak 282-JB, a car overtook the bus and three armed men in police uniform stopped the vehicle.

Taking the driver and passengers at pistol point, they took the bus to a link road in a deserted area and looted cash, ornaments and other valuables worth Rs1 million from passengers. The outlaws also reportedly tortured some of the passengers on resistance.

The Tanzeem Ulema Ahle Sunnah held a condolence meeting here on Sunday with its president Sahibzada Faiz Rasool Siddiqui in the chair. It passed a resolution and held the provincial government responsible for the murder of the former provincial minister.

JUI district secretary-general Maulana Lutfullah, PML-N central leader Mian Asadur Rehman and former MNA M Hamza also condemned the murder of Binyamin.
