LONDON, June 24: English county Essex' influential leg-spinner Danish Kaneria may be playing his final match for the county at Derby before joining Pakistan for a series of one-day tournaments that is likely to see him miss remainder of season.

It was known that Kaneria could miss final six weeks of campaign after Pakistan agreed to compete in a pre-ICC tournament in Amsterdam starting on Aug 21 but now comes news that 23-year-old wonder has been included in 26-man probables list for Asia Cup starting on July 16 and has to attend training camp from June 28.

Kaneria said he was still awaiting confirmation of his involvement but admitted he would play if selected. "To represent your country in any competition is a great honour."

Kaneria had taken 38 wickets in only six championship matches and also proven an admirable workhorse sending down more than 330 overs in first-class game for the county.

He certainly hasn't been bothered by workload stating: "I love playing county cricket and love bowling, that's why I'm here. "As an overseas bowler for the county, I was expecting lots of work."

Essex head coach Graham Gooch admitted Kaneria has been a revelation since linking with the county in April. "Danish has proved he is a world-class bowler and has been a tremendous capture for us." -Agencies
