HYDERABAD, June 12: Religious leaders belonging to various schools of thought have expressed concern over the resurgence of terrorism in Karachi.

They were speaking at a seminar "Restoration of Peace: Need of the Hour" organized by the Markazi Jamaat Ahl-i-Hadis, Sindh chapter, on Saturday.

They said that anti-Islam and Pakistan forces had become flabbergasted due to the unity of all sects and therefore they resorted to terrorist activities.

Speakers called upon the government to take all political and religious parties into confidence and adopt effective measures against the terrorists.

The Sindh president of the MJAH, Abdullah Farooqui said that anti-Islam and Pakistan forces were involved in terrorists activities and bomb blasts.

He called upon the leadership of MMA to condemn terrorist activities in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries.

Mr Farooqui said that Pakistan was not only faced with external threats but there were also black sheep in the country who were engaged in terrorists and disruptive activities.

He offered full cooperation to the MMA on behalf of his party for waging a battle against the terrorists.

Naib District Nazim Nawab Rashid Ali Khan said that religious leaders had played a positive role in the welfare of the country.

He said that following the success of 1977 Nizam-i-Mustafa Movement, the image of religious leaders was distorted as they did not hesitate to join the undemocratic government.

He said that political parties had also failed to come up to the expectations of people and that was the reason that no elected government had ever completed its tenure.

The Sindh leader of the Shia Ulema Council Allama Altaf Hussain Al-Hussaini said that all the sects were united on one platform.

He said that the murder of Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai and Imam Ali Raza Imambargah carnage were aimed at creating anarchy. He said that the terrorists failed in their designs.

JUI-S leader Dr Saleem Qureshi said that the basic responsibility of the government was to protect the people from killers and added that if one murderer was hanged at a public place the terrorist activities would come to an end.

Abu Bilal Muhammadi, Maulana Taj Mohammad Nahyoon, Maulana Azam Jehangiri and others also spoke on the occasion.

The seminar adopted several resolutions demanding the arrest of terrorists, responsible for mass murders in Karachi, and condemned the attack on the motorcade of the Corps Commander of Karachi.
