ISLAMABAD June 9: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has invited five National Assembly members and six senators from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas to a breakfast meeting on Friday to listen to their grievances and try to win back their support.

On Tuesday, five Fata MNAs had announced in the National Assembly withdrawal of their support to the government in protest against mishandling of tribal areas' affairs, including the Wana operation, and denying them their share in policymaking and distribution of development funds.

The MNAs were later joined by six Fata senators. MNA Munir Khan Orakzai, the parliamentary leader of the group of in the National Assembly told newsmen that the legislators might have to meet President Gen Pervez Musharraf if the prime minister failed to fulfil their demands.

He said the group would decide about acceptance of the prime minister's invitation in its meeting on Thursday. He said the government had failed to fulfil any of its promises with Fata legislators, including induction of their nominees in the cabinet.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said on Wednesday that the government was making all-out efforts for the development of social sector, adds APP. He was talking to Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz and Adviser to PM on Women Development Nilofar Bakhtiar, who met him at the PM secretariat along with senior officials of their respective ministries.

He said that the fruits of economic development must reach the common man for all-round progress of various segments of society. Mr Aziz and Ms Bakhtiar discussed with the prime minister the broad spectrum of social sector development in the country with special reference to welfare projects relating to senior citizens and children.

Matters relating to the Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal also came under discussion. The meeting reviewed the ongoing progress on budget and discussed various proposals to be included in it.
