KARACHI, June 5: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority has expressed its concern over increasing number of complaints against the poor service provided by cable operators.

The Pemra's council of complaints met at its regional office on Saturday to review complaints of subscribers against cable operators.

The council warned that the Pemra would take appropriate legal action including the cancellation of license of all those cable operators who did not take prompt action to rectify the complaints.

It was decided at the meeting that the nature of complaint and its ratification would be monitored and evaluated on day-to- day basis by the Pemra. The evaluation report would be put up in the next meeting of the council for review.

The Pemra directed the "Head End Operators" to equip their "complaint cells" with telephone facilities and to ensure availability of generators at the "Head Ends". The Head End Operators were also ordered to ensure uninterrupted signals of channels.

The meeting invited cable subscribers to contact Pemra at UAN 111736111 to lodge complaint against the poor service of cable operators.

Council's commissioner Nazim F. Haji, its member Mumtaz Rashidi, Karachi Naib Nazim Tariq Hasan and Sindh Pemra general- manager Waseem Ahmed were also present at the meeting. -PPI
