PESHAWAR, June 3: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said that the government has made a plan aimed at creating 60,000 jobs and urged the private sector to play its role in reducing unemployment in the province.

The chief minister directed all the departments to forward cases of vacant posts to the NWFP public service commission so that jobs could be provided to the unemployed.

Talking to public service commission chairman Abdullah at the Frontier House, Mr Durrani assured him that the government would soon initiate the expansion work of the commission's building. Sufficient funds would be allocated in the next Annual Development Programme for the purpose, he said.

He noted that over 40 per cent of the NWFP's population lived below the poverty line and added that the private sector could help the government in reducing unemployment.

Mr Abdullah presented the commission's report to the chief minister. He said the commission had filled 202 female posts in the past one year. He briefed the chief minister about various activities of the commission.
