ISLAMABAD: Nadra to start doorstep service for senior citizens
By Our Reporter
ISLAMABAD, May 23: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has decided to introduce special doorstep service for senior citizens and disabled persons to ensure convenient provision of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs).
A statement issued by the Nadra Headquarters said this service would initially be launched in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Gujranwala, Multan, Quetta and Hyderabad.
A strategy in this connection has been evolved whereby call centre officers will issue special appointments to the applicants through call centres. Appointment request will be forwarded to the team in charges in their respective areas who would coordinate with the applicants and ensure that the team reaches the person within an appropriate timeframe. The request received through other means of communication will also be entertained.
For Data Acquisition and Photograph Processing, Nadra has decided that in case applicants have their photographs, these will be pasted on the forms otherwise the photograph may be taken with the help of digital camera by the Nadra staff who will collect forms from the doorstep of senior citizens and disabled persons.
Every form will be marked or tagged with a special number to ensure that the sequence of the forms and photographs remain undisturbed. This sequence will be reassured at the time of scanning and these forms will be processed in separate batches. Under a new delivery procedure, the CNIC will be forwarded to the Central Distribution Centres from where a family member will collect it.
