PESHAWAR: A town without basic amenities

By Shafiq Ahmad

PESHAWAR, May 11: The people of Al Badr town in the Haji Camp area are living without basic amenities since long. They have time and again demanded that the basic facilities should be provided , but the departments concerned were least bothered even to install the streetlights or supply water, said a banker living in the same locality.

The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) had not fulfilled the promises made with the residents, said a resident, Waqar Ahmad. He said that the residents had also met with Union Council Nazim Malik Sajjad Hussain and urged to install tubewell and provide the streetlight facility.

But he said that they were short of funds, and promised to provide the facilities whenever he get the funds, Mr Ahmad added. Qazi Jawad, another resident of the area, said that the people have dug wells for water, but for the last four years the water table was falling forcing them to dig deep making it very expensive.

He said that an application was also forwarded to Peshawar District Nazim Azam Khan Afridi, but he too failed to provide relief to the people.
