HARIPUR, May 4: Three brothers were gunned down by unidentified assailants near Talokar village in the jurisdiction of the city police station on Sunday morning. Police lodged a triple murder case on the report of Mohammad Iqbal, father of the victims.

Police quoting Mohammad Iqbal said that Riaz Mohammad left home for shopping on a bicycle at around 3am, while his brothers Mohammad Javed and Mohammad Aurangzeb were coming in a Suzuki pick-up.

When Riaz reached near Bilal Masjid on Talokar road, some assailants opened fire on him. He was seriously injured and fell from the bicycle. In the meantime, his brothers reached the place and spotted Riaz lying in a pool of blood.

When they stopped to pick him up, the assailants also fired upon them, injuring the two critically. The three were taken to hospital by people of the area. However, Javed and Aurangzeb died on the way, while Riaz died in the Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad.
