QUETTA, May 2: A five-year-old boy was killed and five people, including his mother and two sisters, were injured, two of them seriously, in a gas explosion in a house in Kuchlak on Sunday.

Gas accumulated due to leakage in the room where the victims were sleeping caused an explosion when the deceased boy's mother, Bakhat Bibi, lit a match in the morning.

The roof and a wall of the room collapsed, killing five-year-old Abdul Majeed and injuring Bakhat Bibi, Zahghoona Bibi, Safabari Bibi, Abdul Nabi and Shah Mohammad. The body and the injured were taken to a hospital, where doctors said the condition of two of them was serious.

VehiCLE ATTACKED: A police vehicle was damaged after some people lobbed a hand grenade near the Sariab railway crossing on Sunday night. No one was present in the vehicle, parked near a traffic police booth, when it was attacked. It was the official vehicle of the DSP, Mastung, Mir Rasool Bukhsh Rind, police said.
