HYDERABAD, April 28: Just a few days after Faisal Hameed quit his post as vice-president (VP) District Cricket Association (DCA), Hyderabad, another VP DCA, Imran Soomro resigned on Wednesday voicing demand for the dissolution of association.
In a statement Imran called for probe into cricket clubs affiliated with DCA by an ad hoc body and elections in the association, which he said had not seen internal polls for last 20 years. It is being run unconstitutionally and through nominations, he added.
He said that he and some other DCA office-bearers kept pressing secretary DCA on following the relevant rules on selecting players, but he ignored their suggestions and picked players on the basis of his personal likes and dislikes.
He said that non-selection of Ayaz Sheikh alias Taifi to Hyderabad Region team was just one proof to his favouritism. Among his others victims were Anwar Ali and Irshad Notkani who too were not selected despite best performance.
Taifi was skipper of Hyderabad Region team which won Inter-district cricket championship, organized by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Soomro said alleging that instead of him (Taifi) and others like him, such players were inducted into the team who had not even participated in the trials. He further accused DCA secretary of blackmailing the PCB by issuing statements.
