HYDERABAD, April 28: Provincial Health Minister Naeem Ishtiaque has said that conditions at all state-run health units in the backward areas of Hyderabad and Latifabad will be improved so that better medical facilities could be provided to people.
Speaking at a briefing given to him at the urban health unit, Unit No.11, Latifabad, here on Tuesday, the minister said that around 90,000 people lived in the area but health facilities for them were all but non-existent. Mr Ishtiaque said that according to his information, about 300 patients attended the OPD of this health unit every day.
He said that an adequate and regular supply of medicines and vaccine to all hospitals and health units would be ensured. The minister stated that all necessary facilities would be provided at the health unit in Unit No.11 without any delay. These facilities, he added, included ultrasound machine, X-ray machine, a pathology laboratory besides a female ward.
NAZIM: District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquz Zaman said on Tuesday that the district government was making allout efforts to resolve the problems being faced by the people and added that after the implementation of the Hyderabad development package all basic problems would be resolved.
Inaugurating construction of roads in Bhatti Goth, Gari Khata and Khokhar Mohallah here, the Nazim said that it would take some time to see the results of development activities.
Mr Zaman said that tenders for various development schemes, which would cost Rs160 million, had already been approved. Speaking on the occasion, Taluka Nazim, Latifabad, Abdul Jabbar Khan, said that a network of roads was being laid in Latifabad and added that Rs5 million would be spent on the installation of sodium lights in the taluka.
The Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) has notified here on Wednesday that union councils were not authorized to issue no-objection certificates (NOCs) to builders and sponsors of various housing schemes.
A spokesman for the authority said that under the orders of the Sindh government, dated Oct 24, 2002, only HDA was authorized to approve housing schemes and construction work in the Hyderabad city, Latifabad and Qasimabad talukas.
