Two killed in Kashmir violence

SRINAGAR, April 27: Two people died and 17 others were injured on Tuesday in occupied Kashmir violence amid staggered national elections which are being boycotted by Kashmiris, police said.

Freedom fighters hurled a grenade at a security vehicle in Pampore. The grenade missed its target and exploded among pedestrians, injuring 12 civilians and two policemen, a police spokesman said.

Two policemen were injured in an attack on the motorcade of an independent candidate for parliament, Maqbool Dar, police said. Suspected Mujahideen also shot two people, killing one of them, police said. A paramilitary officer injured in an attack on the headquarters of Congress on Friday died in a hospital in Srinagar, police said. -AFP
