PESHAWAR, April 25: A three-day Information and Technology exhibition and conference, Brainstorm-2004, begins here on Monday. Addressing a press conference at the Press Club here on Saturday , chairman of the Brainstorm organizing committee Zafarullah Khan said that Speaker of the NWFP Assembly Bakht Jehan Khan would inaugurate the IT exhibition on Monday at a local hotel. Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani would be chief guest at the closing ceremony on Wednesday.

Prof Ghulam Mustafa Khan, member of the organizing committee, while briefing newsmen said that the aim of the Brainstorm-2004 was to coordinate efforts of all stakeholders in the field and use IT and computers for improving quality of life and the national economy.

The event would provide a chance to stakeholders, hardware and software vendors, educational institutions, Internet service providers, and others, to take stock of IT business and education in Pakistan and discuss ways and means for coping with new challenges in IT sector at global level.

He said that IT experts from all over the country would share their expertise and experiences with the participants from different walks of life. Scholars would present papers on application and use of information technology in industrial sector, emerging sciences, finance and accounts, education, and virtual learning during five sessions of the conference, he added. He said software and programming competitions were part of the event.
