LARKANA, April 24: A teenaged girl and a man were shot dead under the pretext of Karo-kari in the Bakrani area near here on Saturday.

Abdul Majeed Taggar, resident of Piyaral Jhatyal village, 20km off here, shot at and killed his unmarried sister, Reshman, 18, in their house.

Later, he also killed Deedar Ali at another place whereas a passerby, Zahid Hussain Taggar, was injured in the firing.

Majeed escaped after committing the crime and Hussain was admitted to the Chandka Medical College Hospital.

Bakhshal Taggar, father of Hussain, who lodged an FIR with the Bakrani police, said that his son was innocent.

Police registered another FIR of the girl's killing on behalf of the state.

PROTEST: Protesting against the kidnapping of a boy, Hasnain Khero, the residents of Shahbaz Colony and the workers of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal took out a procession here on Saturday.

The boy has gone missing 25 days ago, the protestors said and feared that he had been kidnapped.

PRISON: District coordination officer Badruddin Ujjan here on Saturday visited the central prison.

He took a round of the jail, met prisoners and heard their complaints.

CHILDREN'S ASSEMBLY: A children's assembly was held here under the aegis of the Sindh Education Foundation and the district government.

Students from 80 villages of Larkana as well as from Karachi and Dadu districts participated in the assembly.

The children's assembly, in a resolution, called upon global organizations to increase financial assistance for education sector and demanded opening of new schools.
