5 extremists killed in S. Arabia

By Our Correspondent

RIYADH, April 23: Five militants were killed in clashes between Saudi security forces and militants in different parts of the country on Friday.

In Jeddah, a militant was killed while another blew himself up after the security forces chased a car carrying them. One policeman was also injured.

Police were also looking for another car involved in the incident. The clash came just hours after three suspected militants were killed and a police officer was wounded in a siege on the northeast of Jeddah late on Thursday evening. The reports said one militant was arrested during the operation.

Police stormed the building where they fled late on Thursday after failing to hijack a car. Witnesses reported gunfire in three areas of Jeddah in the night. The Al Madina newspaper reported that two of the three militants killed on Thursday night were on a list of most wanted fugitives the kingdom issued last year. They were Al Fadli and Mostafa Ibrahim Mubarki.
