KARACHI: Two women brutally killed in Korangi

KARACHI, April 23: Two women were killed in separate incidents in Korangi on Friday. A woman was set on fire by her husband inside their house in Gilgit Colony within the limits of Zaman Town police station.
Area police said that Afzal Bibi, 35, was asleep in her house when her husband, Ali Asghar, sprinkled kerosene oil on her. After setting her on fire, he escaped.
The woman was immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital. Sources at the hospital said that she was admitted to the burns ward, as she had suffered 97 per cent burns. After recording her statement in critical condition, Afzal Bibi succumbed to her wounds.
According to her statement, she was set on fire by her husband, Ali Asghar. Police claimed that they made some raids in the same locality and succeeded in arresting Ali Asghar. They said that the couple had completed 16 years of marriage, but were still childless.
In the same area, another woman was killed allegedly by her brother-in-law within the limits of Zaman Town police station. Police said that Nadra, 20, was raped and later throttled to death by her brother-in-law, Shahid. Her body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination, they added.
Later, the victim's husband, Gohar Ali, lodged an FIR with the police station nominating his brother Shahid in the case. Quoting his statement, police said that Gohar Ali was away from the house when the incident occurred.
BODY FOUND: The bullet riddled body of a bank cashier was found from the limits of Sachal police station on Friday. Police said that Rafiullah, 35, resident of Mangupir Pathan Colony, had been missing since Thursday evening. His body was found from the Super Highway, they said. Police suspected some personal enmity as a possible motive behind the killing.
