KARACHI, April 22: Four persons died in separate accidents in different parts of the city on Thursday. A middle-aged man died and his associate was injured when a shovel fell on them near the Steel Mills on Wednesday.
Police said that Gul Khan, 46, and Mohammad Siddiq were sitting at a charpai when a shovel being carried through gate no 4 of the mills fell on them, killing Gul Khan on the spot and injuring Siddiq, who was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.
The body of Gul Khan was also shifted to the JPMC for autopsy examination. In another incident, Saba, 30, died and her cousin, Sanober, 12, was injured when a speeding minibus (JE 3701) of route F-1 hit them in Nisar Colony.
Both the girls were rushed to the JPMC, where Saba was pronounced dead, while Sanober was admitted for treatment. Police claimed to have arrested the errant driver from the spot. following the accident tension prevailed in the area and people came to the streets.
In Korangi Industrial Area, forty-year-old Attaullah was hit by a speeding water tanker (LF-7883) near Singer Chowrangi. Police said that Attaullah died on the spot. His body was taken to the JPMC for the post-mortem examination.
Victim, a garment factory worker, was a resident of Landhi and had three children. In another hit-and-run accident, a fish seller died on main Shahrae Faisal near the FTC. Police said Sofan was going on his cycle when an unknown vehicle knocked him down.
