SUKKUR, April 19: An All Parties Majlis-i-Amal Tahafuz-i-Khatam-e-Nabuwat conference has called upon the government to desist from the policy of controlling the activities of religious institutions.

The conference, which concluded here on Sunday was attended by thousands of workers of religious parties from all over the country strongly condemned the military operation in Wana and Waziristan and through a resolution asked the government to stop the operation immediately.

It also flayed the western propaganda against the religious institutes that these institutes were producing terrorists and termed it baseless. It further said that these institutes were busy serving the religion and were producing religious scholars to guide the nation to the right path.

The moot was addressed by noted scholars including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Maulana Abul Khair, Dr. Mohammad Zubair, Maulana Aziz-ur-Rehman Jullandhri and many others.

The conference also asked the government to fully safeguard the constitutional amendments regarding the "Qadianis" and "Namoos-e-Risalat". It said that Qadianis should be stopped from preaching openly and a ban on Qadiani literature should be placed.

The moot expressed its distress over the activities of Qadianis in Madina Colony, Sukkur and Post Office, and demanded of the local administration to take necessary action in this regard.

Earlier, Maulana Fazlur Rehman speaking on the occasion said that the MMA was the real opposition and rejected the PPP allegation that the MMA was playing the role of the government's "B" team. He said that the MMA was striving hard to strengthen the democratic process in the country and had cooperated with the ruling party as much as they could.
