ISLAMABAD, April 17: Senate standing committees on defence and defence production, foreign affairs, Kashmir and Northern Areas affairs, petroleum and natural resources and industries and production will separately meet here at the Parliament House on Monday to elect their chairmen.

According to a press release issued by the Senate Secretariat here on Saturday, the directives regarding the meeting were issued by the Senate chairman as contemplated by rule 163 (1) of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 1988.

The Senate Secretariat has already issued notices in this regard and the members of the committee have been requested to make it convenient to participate in the meeting, which will be convened to elect the chairman of the committee as required under Rules 154 (1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Senate. Senate secretary Shahid Iqbal will conduct the elections.
