By Our Correspondent

DADU, April 17: A bandit, wanted by the police in 75 cases of robberies, kidnappings and murders, was killed in an encounter with the police on Friday night.

DPO investigation Tipu Sultan told newsmen in Mehar town on Saturday that a heavy contingent of police surrounded a part of the Sona Bindi forest and asked the bandits on mega phone to surrender but they opened fire which led to the encounter.

He said the exchange of fire lasted for two hours as a result Gul Hassan Junejo, 45, a resident of Mitho Machhi village, was killed on the spot while his four accomplices managed to escape.

He said the police seized a G-3 rifle and 200 bullets from the scene.

The DPO claimed that some 75 cases were registered against him in Dadu, Larkana, Naushahro Feroze, Nawabshah, and Khairpur districts.

He said some six months back Junejo had kidnapped Taluka Mukhtiarkar Warah Khadim Kurtio and three others in the jurisdiction of Thariri Mohabbat police station.
