ISLAMABAD, April 11: A bill to amend the Industrial Relations Ordinance (IRO) 2002, will soon be presented in parliament for debate.
Sources said here on Sunday that a few revisions in the law were under consideration to remove the objections by the International Labour Organization and trade unions after discussions with all stakeholders, including workers, employers and provincial labour departments.
The sources informed that the ordinance 2002 was not repugnant to the fundamental rights guaranteed in the Constitution. But there is a need to review some of its conventions such as the freedom of association and rights to organize collective bargaining for which a workers-employees forum has been set up for evaluation, they said. -APP
