KARACHI, April 10: The NAB Sindh has filed a supplementary reference in an accountability court against accused Izhar Hussain Siddiqui, ex-head postmaster, now in judicial custody.

The supplementary reference has also been filed against Syed Shakeel Hussain, ex-postmaster, Izhar Ahmed Jafery, postmaster, Arshad Ali, assistant postmaster, Ahsan Baseer Shaikh, deputy DG (budget) Pakistan Post Office, Islamabad, Mohammad Hussain, ex-post office clerk, and Rohail Siddiqui, brother of Izhar Siddiqui.

In May 2003, large-scale fraud was detected in the Katchehry Post Office Karachi and private complaints were also received by the NAB about embezzlement of public funds at the said post office.

The NAB Sindh initiated investigation and it was found that accused Syed Shakeel Hussain, ex-postmaster, and other nominated accused allowed Izhar Hussain Siddiqui, ex-postmaster, to misappropriate Rs284 million deposited in the Saving Bank Accounts of 408 account-holders maintained at "Katchehry Post Office in Karachi".-APP
