ISLAMABAD, April 10: The former prime minister, late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, transformed Pakistan into a nuclear power. Pakistan People's Party chairperson Benazir Bhutto stated this in a letter addressed to MNA Fauzia Wahab.

Ms Bhutto said the PPP was the only formidable symbol of people's rule.

The PPP chairperson thanked the MNA for sharing her thoughts on Quaid-e-Awam's 25th death anniversary on April 4, and for sending a report on the function held at Rawalpindi old district jail.

Ms Bhutto said: "From his grave, the Quaid-e-Awam's ever lasting message of freedom, emancipation and progress resounds in millions of hearts.

"It is witnessed in the struggle of those imprisoned, exiled or tortured, and symbolized in the sacrifice of Dhani Bux, who immolated himself in protest against military rule."
