MIRPURKHAS, April 10: Two members of the Nara Canal Area Water Board, District Naib Nazim Younus Talpur and Zahid Bhurgari, have criticized the decision regarding the approval of about one hundred new watercourses.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, they said a meeting of the area water board was held in which one hundred applications for water courses were presented for approval.

They said they raised objection on presenting these applications since there was an acute water shortage in the entire command area.

They said they also boycotted the meeting as a result quorum was incomplete.

They said Umerkot, Kunri, Samaro, Digri, Naokot, Nabisar and other tail end areas faced consistent shortage of water, therefore, there was no justification for new watercourses.

They demanded that the government should declare all the decisions of the meeting null and void.

DISTRICT NAZIM: District Nazim Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani has said that the government will solve the issue of salaries of lady health workers on priority basis.

He was presiding over a meeting of National Health Programme Mirpurkhas district on Saturday. It was attended by the deputy provincial coordinator of national health programme, Dr Akram Nizamani, and others.
