GILGIT, April 10: Two Japanese tourists died and two received injuries on Saturday morning due to a landslide near Lalpari, some 40km south of here, police said.

The police said that the tourists were going to Rawalpindi when a stone hit their wagon on the Karakoram Highway killing one of them and injuring three others. The landslide occurred due to heavy rains in the area.

The dead was identified as Kazamayuichi with passport number TE-64582570, while the injured, all women, were identified as Simo Yopo (TE-8324280), Saito Tomopo (TE-8334280) and Nakasha Mitsuko (TE-5942492). All were Japanese nationals.

The doctors at the DHQ hospital here said that the three women were critically injured, whereas the body of the dead tourist would be handed over to the Japanese embassy in Islamabad.

APP ADDS: Duty Officer Dr Hanif said that Nakasha Mitsuko could not recover from the injuries and died.

Northern Areas Home Secretary Saeed Ahmed Khan said that they were doing their best to arrange a helicopter to shift the victims to another hospital, but due to bad weather it seemed to be impossible.
