PESHAWAR: Relief promised to diabetic patients

PESHAWAR, April 10: NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah promised on Saturday that a special package would be included in the next budget aimed at free supply of insulin to diabetic patients.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of a diabetes symposium jointly organized by the Postgraduate Medical Institute and Diabetes Association here on Saturday.

Underlining the importance of creating awareness about diseases, Mr Inayatullah said that keeping in view our limited resources prevention was the only way to avoid diseases.

He directed the PGMI dean to accelerate research activities and assured the institute that the government would provide sufficient funds for the purpose.

The minister announced that a separate wing would be established in the health directorate next year that would take steps for prevention of non-communicable diseases.

He asked doctors to realize their moral responsibilities. He said a scheme would be included in the next ADP for constructing a building for the PGMI.
