KARACHI, April 10: To observe the chehlum of Imam Hussain (AS), the main procession in Karachi will be taken out from Nishter Park on Sunday.
According to an announcement, the procession will be taken out around 1pm following a majlis to be held at Nishter Park. It will pass through various roads and terminate at Imambargah Anjuman Hussainian Iranian.
The route of the main procession will be: Nishter Park, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, Mehfil Shah-i- Khurasan, M.A. Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, Preedy Street, M.A. Jinnah Road, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazar, Kharadar, Nawab Mahabat Khanji Road to Hussainian Iranian Imambargah.
As soon as the procession will start from Nishter Park, all vehicular traffic will be diverted from the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road and Dr Daudpota Road to Soldier Bazaar.
All traffic on Soldier Bazaar Road from its junction with Dr Daudpota Road up to its junction with Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Khan Road shall move one-way.
All buses, minibuses and trucks coming from Nazimabad will be diverted to Nishter Road towards Zoological Garden.
All buses, minibuses and trucks coming from Liaquatabad will be diverted to Martin Road towards Jail. These vehicles shall, however, be permitted to proceed up to Jail and shall then proceed via Jamshed Road, Dada Bhoy Naoroji Road, Kashmir Road, Shahrah-i-Quaideen, Sharea Faisal up to Gora Qabristan and then via Mubarik Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Dr Daudpota Road, Preedy Street to their normal route.
When the head of the procession will reach the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road and Mansfield Street, these vehicles shall proceed straight for 602-EME Workshop, Mubarik Shaheed Road, Iqbal Shaheed Road, Lucky Star, Sarwar Shaheed Road, Fatima Jinnah Road, Maulana Din Muhammad Wafai Road, Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road, M.A. Jinnah Road till the situation permits when these vehicles shall be diverted onto I.I. Chundrigar Road from the junction of Court Road and M.R. Kiyani Road.
Similarly, all buses, minibuses approaching the city from Stadium Road shall proceed via New M.A. Jinnah Road. These vehicles shall be diverted at Dada Bhoy Road.
All trucks, buses, minibuses approaching from Super Highway shall be diverted from Azam Square towards Nazimabad's Chowrangi No.2 and shall proceed along Estate Avenue Road, Shershah to Mauripur Road. For return journey, these vehicles shall proceed via the same route.
All buses, minibuses and trucks approaching from National Highway shall proceed via Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Muhammad Suleman Road, Hassan Square, Liaquatabad No 10, Nazimabad Chowrangi No.2, Habib Bank, Manghopir Road, Estate Avenue Road, Sher Shah, Mauripur Road. For return journey, these vehicles shall adopt the same route.
No private car shall be permitted to proceed towards the route of procession from Guru Mandir roundabout. All such vehicles shall be diverted to Bahadur Yar Jang Road and again onto Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Khan Road. Under no circumstances, these vehicles shall be permitted to proceed along Soldier Bazaar Road from the junction of Khan Bahadur Naqi Muhammad Khan Road and Bahadur Yar Jang Road.
All car traffic coming from the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam along M.A. Jinnah Road will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road. No vehicular traffic will be permitted to proceed towards Old Exhibition (Numaish) under any circumstances.
The vehicular traffic approaching Purani Numaish via Shahrah-i-Quaideen (except those arriving for participation in the procession having stickers pasted on their wind screens, issued from the traffic police office) shall not be allowed to proceed from the roundabout of Shahrah-i-Quaideen and link road behind the Quaid's mausoleum. No bus, minibus or truck will be permitted to proceed beyond this roundabout towards Purani Numaish.
All traffic going towards Saddar and other colonies will not be allowed to proceed towards Empress Market from the junction of (1) Preedy Street/ Sarmad Road (2) Preedy Street/ M.A. Jinnah Road (3) Shahrah-i-Liaquat/ Court Road and (4) Shahrah-i-Liaquat/ Muhammad Bin Qasim Road when the head of the procession reaches near the crossing of M.A. Jinnah Road and Mansfield Street.
Similarly, all vehicular traffic proceeding towards Saddar via M.A. Jinnah Road shall not be permitted to proceed from its junction with Preedy Street and Aga Khan Road.
No vehicular traffic shall be permitted to proceed towards M.A. Jinnah Road from the junction of M.A. Jinnah Road (Preedy Street) when the procession clears this intersection.
The vehicular traffic on Aga Khan Road from Zoological Garden shall not be permitted to proceed towards the intersection of M.A.Jinnah Road and Aga Khan Road.
The diversion of buses, minibuses and other heavy vehicles shall be started well in advance whereas the car traffic shall be diverted as soon the procession starts formation.
According to the DIG Traffic, no parking will be allowed along the route of the procession and the route will be kept clear from all obstructions. -APP
