KARACHI: City to face 70mgd water shortage on Monday


KARACHI, April 9: The city will face a shortage of 70 mgd water following closure of two pump houses of Dhabeji Phase-III and K-2 for want of repair of two feeders by the KESC in Dhabeji on April 12.

According to a KWSB spokesman, the pumps will remain shut from 10 am to 5pm during which water supply to the extent of 70mgd will be affected. However, water supply from Hub source to Orangi, Baldia, SITE and New Karachi towns will continue from the Hub Pumping Station.

During water closure period, the areas to be affected will include North Nazimabad, Federal B. Area, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e- Jauhar, Jamshed Town, Mahmoodabad, Kharadar, Mithadar, Garden East and West, Clifton, Bhutta Village, Lyari Town and Old City areas.

The KWSB said that water supply to the city will be restored same day after 5pm. The people have been appealed to conserve water for the period and use the same cautiously. -APP
