ISLAMABAD April 8: The Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement (PONM) is poised to launch a mass mobilization drive to apprise the people about the far-reaching negative affects of the National Security Council that the National Assembly approved on Wednesday.
This was stated by Abdul Rauf Mengal, the parliamentary leader of Balochistan National Movement (BNM) in the National Assembly while talking to Dawn at the lobbies of Parliament House on Thursday.
"We will hold public rallies in all the provincial capitals and big towns to inform the people of horrendous consequences through which this nation would pass after the passage of so-called NSC bill" said Mr Mengal.
Mengal said: "We have also proposed to the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) to reach at a concrete decision whether it was serious in confronting the regime and whether it was ready to launch a movement against the efforts of perpetuation of one-man rule."
He said "during our campaign against the military-led regime, we would also expose the Mullah military alliance, which had resulted in the passage of 17th amendment and consequently strengthened the hands of a dictator."
Mr Mengal said we are determined to go to the people and inform them about the dangerous path on which a few generals were taking the country. "We would also appeal to the Q-league to take steps for putting those generals to accountability, who were responsible for the demolition of all democratic institutions in the country.
BNM leader said, Gen Musharraf had totally failed to implement any single point out of his seven points agenda which he drummed up when he toppled an elected government in October 1999 and instead had superimposed a so-called NAB to persecute innocent people and induct the corrupt ones in the sham democracy.
He criticized the so-called mega projects initiated in his province like Gwadar, Kohloo, Dera Bugti and Jalawan cantonments and said the destinies of nations never changed with strengthening of their war power.
